What do we know about the F1 movie?

Pitt told Sky Sports in July 2023 that F1 sees him play “a guy who raced in the 1990s… who has a horrible crash, craps out, and disappears, then he’s racing in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, he’s a team owner, contacts him. They’re a last-place team, they’re 21-22 on the grid, they’ve never scored a point. But they have a young phenom, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in as kind of a Hail Mary and hijinks ensue. Tell you what’s amazing about it — there are cameras mounted all over the car — you’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen just the G-forces like this. It’s really, really exciting.”

F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is known for making 2010’s Tron: Legacy, 2013’s Oblivion, 2017’s Only the Brave, 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, and 2022’s Spiderhead. He also came up with the story for 2024’s Twisters.

In addition to the aforementioned cast, F1 stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

The film is written by Ehren Kruger. Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman serve as producers on the movie for Jerry Bruckheimer Films alongside Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment. Hamilton also produces under his Dawn Apollo Films banner, while Penni Thow serves as an executive producer.

F1 will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on June 27, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
