New Trailer Park Boys Movie Is Getting a Theatrical Release, Special Appearance Cameos Revealed


A theatrical release is being planned for the new Trailer Park Boys movie, Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story.

Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian mockumentary series created by Mike Calltenburg. A continuation of the 1999 movie of the same name, the series originally aired on Showcase in 2001. Since the eighth season, Trailer Park Boys has been released through Netflix. The series ended in 2018, though there has since been an animated series and spin-off show.

Per Variety, Blue Fox Entertainment and Blue Fox Canada have picked up the distribution rights to Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story. A nationwide theatrical release is being planned, though a release date has yet to be announced.

What special appearance cameos will be in the new Trailer Park Boys movie?

The movie will see Mike Smith, Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay, and Patrick Roach reprise their respective roles as Bubbles, Ricky, Julian, and Randy. Deadline has also revealed that the movie will feature special cameo appearances from Billy Bob Thornton, Ronnie Wood, Martin Freeman, and Robert Sheehan.

“The movie follows Bubbles and his band, The Shitrockers, as they embark on a European rock tour and earn a spot opening for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters,” the description reads. However, after traveling from Nova Scotia to Prague, they are kicked off the tour and must resort to busking to survive and find a way back home. Ricky and Julian must figure out how to make their dreams come true again — if that’s still possible.”

The script for Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story is written by Smith, while Charlie Lightening is directing the film. Smith, Wells, and Tremblay produce the movie with Lewin Webb, Jamie Brown, and Gary Howsam.
