Cameron Diaz is speaking out against rumors surrounding her return movie, Back in Action, and her co-star, Jamie Foxx.
At one point, the biggest story surrounding Back in Action was the return of Cameron Diaz, who hadn’t released a movie since 2014. But when Jamie Foxx was taken to the hospital for a “medical complication”, the attention shifted to that star. But the media redirecting their focus to Foxx and his mysterious illness wasn’t the issue for Diaz. It was the rumors and speculation about delays and her co-star’s onset behavior – all of which she is debunking.
While cameras rolled on Back in Action, word circulated that Jamie Foxx was the cause for a “miserable” on-set environment, nonsense which Cameron Diaz has no tolerance for, telling Molly Sims on her podcast (via The Hollywood Reporter), “I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set…You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’” She added, “The hiccups that happened throughout production are the natural kinds of things that happen, but nothing got delayed other than, obviously, toward the end.” This, of course, refers to Foxx’s aforementioned “medical complication”, which itself spawned a wave of rumors immediately as the Oscar winner was undergoing treatment and later going through rehab, which he said was part of a “dark journey.”
On Foxx himself, Diaz has nothing but love. “Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He’s such a special person, and he’s so talented, so much fun…We have so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level.” Diaz and Foxx have worked together twice before: on Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday and the Annie update, which is still her most recent movie.
While Back in Action will get Cameron Diaz, uh, back in action, fans should perhaps be a little hesitant on a full-blown return, as the actress may be retreating back into retirement following the release. While details have been minimal about the movie, Back in Action will come to Netflix presumably sometime next year. The cast also includes Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler and Andrew Scott.
