Freaky Friday 2 Cast Adds The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto to Sequel

Disney is currently eyeing The Good Place vet Manny Jacinto to join the Freaky Friday 2 cast for the long-awaited sequel to 2003’s fan-favorite fantasy comedy. This would mark Jacinto’s latest collaboration with Disney, as he’s currently starring in the recently released Star Wars: The Acolyte series on Disney+.

Who is part of the Freaky Friday 2 cast?

Jacinto has entered negotiations to star opposite returning leads Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, who are reprising their respective roles as Anna and Tess Coleman in Freaky Friday 2. Prior to Jacinto’s casting, it was also recently reported that rising young actress Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Fabelmans) was also in talks to join the project.

Freaky Friday 2 will be directed by Nisha Ganatra (Late Night) from a screenplay written by Jordan Weiss. It will also be produced by Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr. At the moment, there is no release date attached to the project.

Freaky Friday was directed by Mark Waters from a screenplay written by Heather Hach and Leslie Down. This version marked Disney’s third adaptation of the classic story. It centered around the bond between a mother and her rebellious daughter. After one of their arguments, they suddenly found themselves in an unbelievable situation when they learned that they’ve unexpectedly switched bodies. The 2003 film starred Curtis, Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Harmon, Stephen Tobolowsky, Rosalind Chao, and more. In addition to receiving positive reviews, the film was also a box office success, with a worldwide gross of more than $160 million against a reported budget of $26 million.
