Grand Theft Auto VI trailer has arrived, teasing 2025 release

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has been released, teasing a 2025 release for the hugely anticipated video game.

It’s safe to say that Grand Theft Auto VI has been one of the most anticipated video games of the last decade, and fans will pleased to know that the first trailer has arrived! The trailer was originally slated to be released tomorrow morning, but unfortunately, leaks began to emerge this evening, forcing Rockstar to release it a little early.

We still don’t officially know all that much about Grand Theft Auto VI, but the trailer confirms that it will take place in Vice City and revolve around two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, who seem to be involved in some type of Bonnie and Clyde-type story. As you might expect, the scope is pretty large, showcasing a variety of landscapes that make up Vice City. Social media also seems like it might play a big part, with portions of the trailer made up of TikTok-style videos and live-streaming.

Even with just 90 seconds to play with, the trailer is absolutely packed, with brief snippets showcasing all aspects of life in Vice City, with “Florida-type antics” coming fast and furious. It’s clear that Rockstar has spared no expense and I can’t wait to see more. Gamers have been waiting a long time for this one, and with the 2025 release confirmed, there’s still over a year to go… but we can finally see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released a decade ago in 2013 and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning $1 billion in just three days. The game revolves around three protagonists—retired bank robber Michael De Santa, street gangster Franklin Clinton, and drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips. The game was first released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but would receive re-releases on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014 and on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in 2022. Grand Theft Auto Online has also kept the franchise going for the decade between installments, with frequent updates keeping fans active and the money rolling in.

What did you think of the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer? What are you hoping to see in the finished game?
