What happens in Neena Gupta & Jackie Shroff’s latest Amazon Prime film?

The story starts with Nanhe’s life story. He is a skilled and honest tailor whose life takes an unfortunate turn when he loses his job due to false accusations of sexual harassment. Desperate to fulfill his dreams of owning a boutique, Nanhe resorts to robbing and one of his targets is Kamath. The latter is a lonely man who often contemplates suicide by the beach. The attempted theft sets in motion a series of events that redefine Nanhe’s fate.

Kamath’s response to the intrusion is unexpected, and instead of calling the authorities, he asks Nanhe to kill him as well. The latter doesn’t do so. After a while, he manages to save some money and buys a new sewing machine. However, his dream is yet again crushed when it gets stolen.

At this point, a new character joins in – Rani. She is a street beggar who helps Nanhe in recovering his stolen machine from Pakiya, a seasoned thief. This unlikely friendship blossoms into a heartwarming connection due to Nanhe’s gestures of kindness.

However, it takes a heartbreaking turn when he discovers that she continues to sell herself on the streets. Although she did so to pay Nanhe’s debt, he wasn’t aware of it. Having discovered the truth, he went back to stealing.

Speaking of unlikely friendships, Kamath’s and Mrs. Handa’s relationship is also one of them. The latter had come back to India after her husband’s death.

Mast Mein Rehne Ka: What happens in the end?

After a series of misjudgements, Kamath and Mrs. Handa finally bond over their loneliness. So, to battle it, the pair become thieves in a non-serious way. The duo would sneak into people’s houses just to drink their booze and have fun in each other’s company.

As fate would have it, during one of their escapades, they encounter Nanhe, who was there to steal valuable items. After several unexpected moments, Mrs. Handa experiences a heart attack. She is immediately taken to the hospital by Nanhe. Upon hearing this news, her son, Randheer, comes back to take her to Canada.

Kamath, unaware of whether or not she went back to Canada, is surprised when he is brought to the police station to identify the thief who broke into his home. Interestingly, he does not identify Nanhe, who is one of the suspects, as the thief.

Nanhe’s life is spared, and Rani bails him. Additionally, Mrs. Handa does not leave the country and surprises Kamath at the police station. As it is, the movie ended on a happy note against the backdrop of bustling Mumbai.
