Keanu Reeves and his band Dogstar will hit the road this year to support this upcoming third album, due out in October.
Keanu Reeves may have just let the guns cool for John Wick, but he’s picking up the bass once again as his band Dogstar is headed out on tour, marking a happy ending for the band after all. To support their upcoming album “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees”, Dogstar will hit the road starting in August, hot off of the band performing at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood on Tuesday.
The 30-date tour kicks off in Hermosa Beach, California on August 10th before bouncing around Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, more of the Golden State, and Japan, concluding its first leg in Yokohama. Following the album’s release on October 6th, Dogstar will return in November for shows across the US (and one in Canada), wrapping up in December in Nashville. Tickets go on sale this Friday. As per a release from the band, “We are so excited to re-introduce Dogstar with our new single ‘Everything Turns Around,’…It feels like a fun summer song to us. It has an uplifting message and a positive vibe that hopefully makes your day a little bit lighter. It’s one of our favorite songs to play live and can’t wait to share it on our upcoming tour.” This third album is Dogstar’s first since 2000’s Happy Endingwhich came four years after Our Little Visionary Zoo. Prior to their show this week, Dogstar played on stage for the first time in over two decades this past May, playing BottleRock Napa Valley.
Dogstar has an interesting backstory, as the band’s origins go back to a conversation about hockey between Reeves and drummer Robert Mailhouse in a supermarket in 1991, the same year Reeves had a diverse string of movies: point breaktea Bill & Ted sequel and My Own Private Idaho. From there, the jam sessions began with recruit Gregg Miller, who was later replaced by current singer Bret Domrose. That Reeves still makes time to and clearly loves playing with the band even after starring in one of the highest-grossing movies of the year further solidifies him as one of the coolest, most genuine guys in the business – movie or music!
