MJF’s AEW Return: What Can Fans Expect

Former AEW World Champion MJF has stayed off the program since he faced Daniel Garcia at AEW All Out. Recent reports have clarified his absence from television since the event, which was held in early September.

MJF has been in a heated rivalry with Daniel Garcia for quite some time. This began a few months ago when Garcia brutally attacked him following his match against Will Ospreay on an episode of Dynamite. Later, Garcia remained off TV until AEW All In, where he made his return and cost MJF the AEW International Championship.

At AEW All In in London, MJF fought for his title defense against Will Ospreay. There, Daniel Garcia distracted MJF, allowing Ospreay to seize the opportunity to defeat him and reclaim his AEW International Championship.

After costing MJF the International Championship, Garcia squared off against him at All Out. Determined to secure a win over MJF, Garcia ultimately fell short. After the match, tensions seemed to ease as MJF offered him a hand of friendship.

However, Garcia saw through his gesture. He immediately blocked an attempted low blow from MJF and retaliated with one of his own. This was followed by a devastating piledriver from the middle rope. The medical team quickly came for him, which indicated the promotion writing a possible injury angle.

In its aftermath, reports surfaced that Maxwell joined the cast of Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2. It was confirmed that he will portray Gordie Gilmore, one of Happy Gilmore’s sons, in the film. Amid his absence from All Elite Wrestling, recent updates have shed light on his anticipated return.

When is MJF set to return to AEW?

Fightful Select‘s latest reports behind the paywall have revealed the status of MJF’s return. The report indicates that MJF plays “a significant role” in the upcoming Adam Sandler film. While he is currently busy filming the film, reports suggest that AEW fans can expect his return “sooner rather than later.”

However, no date has been shared for the former International Champion’s comeback. It is expected to see him continue his feud with none other than Daniel Garcia.
