Paddington in Peru US Release Date Delayed


The United States theatrical release date for Paddington in Peru has been delayed.

Paddington in Peru is the third film in the Paddington franchise following 2014’s Paddington and 2017’s Paddington 2. The film is directed by Dougal Wilson and once again sees Ben Whishaw voice the loveable bear.

While Paddington in Peru has already been released in the United Kingdom, the film was originally supposed to hit United States theaters on January 17, 2025; now, however, the film’s release in the United States is being delayed.

When is the new United States release date for Paddington in Peru?

Per Deadline, Sony has moved StudioCanal’s Paddington in Peru to Valentine’s Day weekend, meaning the film will open in United States theaters on February 14, 2025.

“The news comes in the wake of the Dougal Wilson-directed threequel notching the best UK opening for a British production since 2021’s No Time to Die at a 3-day of £9.65M ($12.4M),” Deadline’s article notes. “That bow also repped the highest-ever for Studiocanal. The 2014 original opened to £5.1M, and the 2017 sequel did £8.2M in its debut. Combined, the previous two films grossed $600M worldwide.”

The synopsis for Paddington in Peru reads, “Full of Paddington’s signature blend of wit, charm, and laugh-out-loud humor, Paddington in Peru finds the beloved, marmalade-loving bear lost in the jungle on an exciting, high-stakes adventure. When Paddington discovers his beloved Aunt Lucy has gone missing from the Home for Retired Bears, he and the Brown family head to the wilds of Peru to look for her, the only clue to her whereabouts a spot marked on an enigmatic map. Determined to solve the mystery, Paddington embarks on a thrilling quest through the rainforests of the Amazon to find his aunt…and may also uncover one of the world’s most legendary treasures.”

The film stars Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Olivia Colman, and Antonio Banderas.
