Season two trailer promises we’re “almost there”

A trailer has arrived for season two of Invincible, bringing the animated series — based on the comic — back to Prime Video.

With the New York Comic Con officially in motion, we can expect plenty of exclusives, panels and trailers. Fortunately, one such reveal was the trailer for the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s Invincible, which dropped to plenty of fanfare, adding to the hype that has been in place for far too long.

The official plot for season two of Invincible, as per Prime Video: “Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the story revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet. Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season One, Mark struggles to rebuild his life as he faces a host of new threats, all while battling his greatest fear – that he might become his father without even knowing it.”

Prior to the special prequel episode of Invincible that arrived just four months ahead of the season two debut, it had been more than two years since season one concluded. So, yeah, fans have waited long enough to see Mark Grayson and company return. Despite the long gap, creator Robert Kirkman – a The Walking Dead alum and Renfield producer – said he could see the series running for seven or eight seasons. Hopefully it doesn’t take until 2035 for the show to hit that point…

Invincible has one heck of a cast, with season two featuring Steven Yeun (Grayson/Invincible), J.K. Simmons (Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man), Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), and a wealth of others, including Zazie Beetz, Walter Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Zachary Quinto, Seth Rogen, and more.

The first half of Invincible season two will arrive on November 3rd and consist of four episodes.

Outside of NYCC, season two of Invincible has been spotlighted at this year’s PaleyFest. As for what we can expect there: “Creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman, showrunner Simon Racioppa, and cocreator/coexecutive Producer Cory Walker will look back on the creation of the influential and inventive graphic novel and discuss transitioning it to the screen in the popular adaptation that has delighted fans the world over. Featuring a screening of the standalone Atom Eve Special with a season two sneak peek trailer followed by a conversation and Q&A. A limited edition Atom Eve pin given to all attendees!”

The New York Comic Con runs from October 12th – October 15th, while PaleyFest began on Wednesday and will conclude on Tuesday.
