The Winchesters Crew Member Sues Warner Bros. for Unsafe Set Conditions

More than three months after the official cancellation of The Winchesters, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that a crew member from Supernatural prequel is currently suing Warner Bros. for unsafe working conditions and production of negligence. During the show’s production in Louisiana last year, first assistant camera operator Bryan DeLorenzo was struck by lightning after the crew was forced to continue filming during a heavy rainstorm.

According to DeLorenzo, he actually talked with the studio’s production coordinator and safety officers regarding his concerns about shooting during bad weather conditions prior to the incident. Their only countermeasure was advising DeLorenzo to buy lightning detector products. Besides Warner Bros., he’s also suing The CW Network and Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles, who served as an executive producer.

What was The Winchesters about?

“Before Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary,” reads the logline. “Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester, The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary, and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love but the entire world.”

The Winchesters starred Meg Donnelly, Drake Rodger, Nida Khurshid, Jojo Fleites, Demetria McKinney, Bianca Kajlich, Tom Welling, and Ackles, who reprised his fan-favorite role as Dean. It was written and executive produced by Robbie Thomas, with Glen Winter serving as an executive producer and director. It was produced by Chaos Machine for Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios.
