Weapons Release Date Set for Zach Cregger’s Next Horror Movie

The official Weapons release date has been announced by Warner Bros.

When is Weapons coming out?

The Weapons release date for the upcoming horror movie from writer and director Zach Cregger is set for a theatrical release on January 16, 2026. Plot details remain under wraps. However, Weapons has been described as “an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Weapons’ cast includes Josh Brolin (Outer Range), Julia Garner (Ozark), Alden Ehrenreich (Oppenheimer), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives), Benedict Wong (3 Body Problem), and Amy Madigan (Antlers). Pedro Pascal was originally attached to star in Weapons. However, Pascal had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with The Fantastic Four and The Last of Us Season 2.

Weapons is written, directed, and produced by Cregger. Additional producers include Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules.

As an actor, Cregger is a founding member of the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know. However, Cregger became best known as a writer and director for 2022’s Barbarian, starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long. The horror film became a sleeper hit for 20th Century Studios, grossing over $45 million on a rumored $4 million budget.

After the success of Barbarian, multiple studios entered a bidding war to nab Cregger’s next project, which became Weapons. New Line Cinema won the rights in an estimated deal of around eight figures.
