Will The Batman Part 2 be Matt Reeves’ last DC movie?

The Batman Part 2 is not confirmed to be Matt Reeves’ last DC movie.

Reeves revealed in an interview with Collider that he still plans to make The Batman trilogy. “I mean, it’s sticking very closely to the path we envisioned,” he said. James Gunn confirmed that Matt Reeves’ The Batman Universe would continue running under the DC Elseworlds banner when he first announced the DCU.

Thus, when fans brought up the rumor that Gunn’s DCU Batman film, The Brave and the Bold will only be released after Reeves completes his trilogy, the DC Studios co-CEO debunked it via Threads. Furthermore, Gunn also reportedly debunked the rumors about The Batman Part II and its sequel getting canceled, when it hit the web in June.

As per a recent report from Entertainment Weekly, the script for The Batman Part II, which is scheduled to release on October 2, 2026, has been completed and the film is scheduled to begin shooting in 2025. Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell are expected to reprise their roles of Bruce Wayne/Batman, James Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/Penguin, respectively, in the movie.

As of writing, the plot or the main antagonist for The Batman Part II is unknown. However, James Gunn shut down the rumor of Professor Pyg, Clayface, Hush, Scarecrow, and Dick Grayson appearing in the film.
