Lionsgate has officially acquired the rights to an action murder mystery movie titled, The Professionals. It hails from John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who’s set to serve as a producer through his 87Eleven Entertainment banner.
It’s still unclear if Stahelski would also decide to direct the project. At the moment, Stahelski is currently attached to direct and produce several high-profile projects. This includes the Highlander remake with Henry Cavill set to play the lead character. He is also producing the first John Wick spin-off movie, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, which is slated to premiere in theaters on June 6, 2025.
What is The Professionals about?
“The story follows a group of contract killers stranded in an English countryside estate when one of them is murdered. Now, the remaining group has to solve the death,” reads the synopsis.
Described as a blend of 1995’s whodunnit classic Clue and 2014’s Keanu Reeves movie John Wick, The Professionals is being written by stuntman-turned-writer Madison Turner (The Dark Knight). It is based on the initial draft by Hunter Perot. The film is produced by Alex Young, Jason Spitz, Jason Michael Berman and Jordan Moldo, with Perot, Josh Glick, and David Bernon executive producing.
