Dragon Ball Daima Trailer Features Young Goku in Combat

Akira Toriyama, during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 two-day event, presented a new character trailer for the upcoming anime series Dragon Ball Daima, which is poised to see Goku in his young and lively self.

The 1-minute trailer highlighted the adorable, youthful character in combat. Dragon Ball Daima was announced at the 2023 New York Comic Con. Toriyama — the manga artist behind the popular Dragon Ball franchise — also revealed the meaning behind the title, stating that “Daima” is a made-up term that could mean “evil” when translated in English.

“I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs. I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual,” said Toriyama. “Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world,” Toriyama’s message reads.

What is Dragon Ball Daima about?

Billed as “a story never told” in the franchise’s history, Dragon Ball Daima will see Goku and the rest of his friends transform into their younger selves. In order to fix the challenging situation and turn themselves back into their normal physiques and sizes, they all must embark on a journey and fight against creatures that are way bigger than their current size.

The upcoming anime series will also feature de-aged versions of Vegeta, Bulma, Chi-Chi, Yamcha, Android 18, Supreme Kai, Kibito, Piccolo, and Roshi, among others. According to Toriyama, Goku will be using a power that fans have not seen in a long time.

No release date has been set for Dragon Ball Daima yet, but it will premiere in the fall of 2024, 40 years after the original manga was first published. Toriyama himself also helped develop the forthcoming anime, so longtime Dragon Ball fans can assume that the series will stay faithful to the original source material.
