Apple TV+ has dropped official photos for hi-jacka high octane thriller slated to premiere on June 28. The photos give a first look at Idris Elba as a skilled negotiator in the business world, who finds himself in a hostage situation after his plane is hijacked.
What is Apple TV+’s Hijack About?
Hijack is created by writer George Kay (Lupine) and director Jim Field Smith (Truth Seekers), who have previously worked together in Netflix’s Criminal. Joining Elba are Emmy winner Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.
“Told in real time, the 7-episode series is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers,” reads the synopsis. “It introduces Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guidance to try and save the lives of the passengers – but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing. Meanwhile Panjabi’s counter terrorism officer Zahra Gahfoor is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation.”
Hijack is executive produced by Kay, Field Smith, Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Kris Thykier. It is a production by 60Forty Films, Idiotlamp Productions, and Green Door Pictures.
