James Gunn Reveals One of His Biggest Casting Surprises

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has spoken about casting directors and revealed one of his big casting surprises from Guardians of the Galaxy.

On Threads, Gunn was asked if there was ever a time where, when casting, he was sure an actor wouldn’t fit a role, only to be blown away by them to the point of giving them the role. The filmmaker revealed that he felt this way about Chris Pratt originally when he was trying out for Star-Lord, as well as “quite a few” others.

Gunn also delved into how casting directors go about doing their jobs by making long lists of actors who might be suited for roles while staying up-to-date on new and talented upcoming actors.
