Deadline exclusively revealed the news as production resumes on the adaptation of the best-selling video game of all time.

Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) is directing the movie, with Jason Momoa already signed up. Brooks will play the role of Dawn, while Hansen will play the role of Henry. Brooks is best known for her roles in Orange is the New Black and Peacemaker. She’s also set to star in The Color Purple later this month.

Eugene Hansen starred in the Oscar-winning film Just Mercy alongside Micheal B. Jordan and Brie Larson, and has been in the television shows Lisey’s Story and Mozart in the Jungle.

Production on the Minecraft movie is allegedly looking to ramp up in New Zealand before the end of the year. Coming out of the actors strike, some of its potential castings have pulled away due to other obligations.

The smash hit video game was released in 2011 and became a global phenomenon, selling over 300 million copies. Its success led to Microsoft acquiring Mojang for $2.5 billion. A film based on the series has been in the works for several years, with Shawn Levy and Rob McElhenney among those previously attached.
